Devotional 7/10/16 – John 16:8-11 “He will prove the world wrong about righteousness”

How does one get right with God? Only the Holy Spirit can convince us that we need to get right, can get right, and that Jesus is the way to get right.
John 16:8-11 “When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: about sin, because people do not believe in me; about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned”.
Rom. 3:21-24 ‘But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify.  This righteousness is given through faith in[h] Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus’.
What is righteousness?
Righteousness is to be right or just. In essence it is to have inner and outer conformity to Jesus.
How does one become righteous?
This question will reveal whether of not you are a Christian. A Christian knows that one cannot make themselves righteous. Even if one were to have thinking and actions that were perfect, we are still accounted sinners by our unity with Adam – Adam’s rebellion is accounted as humanities rebellion!
Only the Spirit can humble us to see that righteousness can only be attained through faith in Christ.
As we seek to share this message of the free gift of righteous with others, one must depend upon the Spirit to bring revelation to people.

Jesus has ‘gone to the Father…’ so no one can see Him physically any longer; His invisibility would make evangelism impossible if not for the convicting work of the Holy Spirit.
