To meditate/pray upon
John 16:16 “Jesus went on to say, “In a little while you will
see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me.”
2 Corinthians 5:14-15 ‘For Christ’s love compels us, because we are
convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he
died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for
him who died for them and was raised again’.
Hebrews 6:19 ‘We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and
secure’.
Jesus is preparing His disciples for His
imminent death. There is soon to be a
period when Jesus, in the tomb, will not be seen by the disciples. Then, Jesus
will rise from death and appear to them. There Lord was about to be betrayed
and crucified. The disciples will all be scattered in fear (16:33) and Jesus is
lovingly preparing them for this dark night.
But Jesus is not only preparing them. He is
also preparing us as we read God’s word two millennia after these events. He
wants us to believe that Jesus did die and was raised to life; He wants us to
believe that even when times are dark and confusing, He is in control and has
our best interests at heart.
