We have been sent into the world on God’s mission. But it’s vital that
as we seek to share the gospel that our character backs up our words.
To meditate/pray upon
John 17:18 “As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into
the world.”
Philippians 2:14-16 ‘Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that
you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped
and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the
word of life...’
On the 11th, we began to look at this idea of our being ‘sent
into the world’. We saw how we are to be involved in our community beyond the
church – seeking to bring the gospel to people through relationships. We also
saw that Jesus set us an example withdrawing, regularly, in order to pray and
gain strength for the mission.
For the whole blog go to:
Jesus was sent; likewise, we have been sent. He was sent to do God’s
will in this world, we, likewise are to bring glory to God wherever God has put
us.
In the last couple of blogs we have seen the vital role of the bible in
our transformation (sanctification) – It is as we live by God’s word that we
will be affective to stand, influence, and speak the gospel as we are sent into
this world.
As we read and seek to apply the bible in our lives, we will be like a
light in darkness. Just think about how much more effective we will be in our
evangelism if we are also more loving, patient, brave, prayerful, joyful,
generous etc.
We need to speak the gospel but our character must back up our
words.
How are you doing at
this?
Think about your day, your week, this month. Are you ‘walking the talk’?
Are you a grumbler? Are you negative? Do you gossip? Are you fearful? Pray that
God would give you grace to live and speak like someone who knows such amazing
good news.
