Devotional 22/9/16 – John 15:22-23 Guilty of rejection

19:36 Posted by Matthew Beaney No comments

Rejecting Jesus is the most serious thing any of us can do. Let’s hear God urging us to remain faithful to Jesus.
Jesus is speaking of the Jews of His day who heard Him and yet rejected Him; to all their other sin they added the guilt of rejecting Jesus.
In John 1, we read,
‘He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.’
They were God’s people, they had the bible, but they missed God!
The very people who were waiting for the Saviour, rejected the Saviour when He appeared!
This is a strong message to all, but in particular to those who have been brought up or have experienced a strong Christian influence. Let’s hold fast to our hope; let’s not be swayed by detractors or inner doubts. Let’s remember that the gospel message is something that is God-given and its rejection is very serious.
To meditate/pray upon
John 15:22-23 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. Whoever hates me hates my Father as well.”
Hebrews 4:11 'Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.'
