To meditate/pray upon
John 15:7 “This is my
command: Love each other”.
John 15:12-13 “My command is this: Love each
other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s
life for one’s friends.”
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 ‘Love is patient, love is kind. It
does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not
dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no
record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with
the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always
perseveres. Love never fails.’
Again, Jesus restates His great
command to love one another within the church. We began this chapter by looking
at how Jesus is the vine and that, as we remain in Him, we will bear much
fruit; clearly, love is one of the principle fruits that the Father wants to
nurture in us. He is pruning us so that we become more and more loving toward
God and one another.
Love is developed in us as our
relationships are challenged. Love is strained in many ways and we are tempted
to withdraw our care and affection; our love is not grown when it’s easy to
love, it grows through adversity! Let’s hear Jesus commanding us to love again and let’s love again!
Take a moment to pray; ask God to
reveal how you’re doing and if there is anyone to whom God wants you to show
particular care at the moment.
